In this bright summer day, welcome to the darkness,
This week’s set is devoted to Lorn (Marcos Ortega), an American electronic music producer known for his original, mysterious, and cinematic tracks filled with deep bass and apocalyptic themes. Play and read on:
Distorted synths, massive basslines that cut and return with intensity, echoes of raw and industrial percussive elements, spaces saturated with post-apocalyptic pads and textures, and haunting, modulated vocals occasionally layered with melancholic, dark harmonies - these are some of the elements you’ll find in Lorn’s productions.
Some might say it’s hard to dance to this kind of music (I’d agree!), but that didn’t stop artists from creating a video for “Acid Rain,” which won the Best Dance Music Video category at the UK Music Video Awards in 2015.
Ortega’s unique style has led to his tracks being featured in video games, movies, and TV shows, including Ghost in the Shell, CSI, and Silicon Valley.
Enjoy the darkness,
PLÜTA
P.S. This set is best experienced on an audio system with proper bass support or through good headphones.
